Bucket trucks are a life-saver for those that use them. Could you imagine climbing a ladder 65 feet in the air? Neither could I. Thats why we have bucket trucks to safely take us to a worksite that is relatively high up. Also called “cherry pickers”, bucket trucks are a key tool in electric line-work, cable/ internet, forestry, sign & light repair/ installation, window washing, painting, and even Christmas decorating.

Bucket trucks are readily available on the internet, but most people don’t know which business to avoid and which business to work with. If you’re in the market for a new bucket truck, the easy solution is to visit Altec. They are the world leader in bucket truck parts and manufacturing. If you are looking to save money and purchase a used / reconditioned bucket truck, the first choice should Southwest Equipment. They have been around since 1995 and have established themselves as the world leader in reconditioned bucket trucks.

Save yourself the hassle and stress when it comes to purchasing equipment. If you go with either of the companies mentioned, you will have a very solid bucket truck that should last you decades. Southwest Equipment gives you peace of mind with their 2 year warranty.

Just like the many different sellers of bucket trucks, there are many different uses for cherry pickers. After highlighting a few of the major businesses in the first paragraph, you should have an understanding of what most companies need bucket trucks for. Did you know cherry pickers are also used as a vantage point for police? They are also used by extreme sports fanatics as an anchor for bungie jumping. Even photographers use cherry pickers to capture the drama of a photo from heights.

Bucket trucks are certainly an incredible invention in todays world. Often overlooked as a truck pulled over to the side of the road fixing a light pole, cherry pickers really help keep our lives running smoothly.

Article by Snowie

Fueled by Twitter and the nation’s growing interest in innovative fast-food options, food trucks have proliferated over the past few years. While food carts serving pizza, chicken, hot dogs and shaved ice have lined the streets of major U.S. cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago for decades, those generally generic carts have now evolved into eye-catching restaurants-on-wheels that travel to different locations throughout the day and boast sophisticated kitchens capable of producing high-quality meals, snacks and desserts. Thanks to a growing foodie culture and the popularity of Food Network shows like The Great Food Truck Race, food trucks have become a desirable business option for savvy culinary entrepreneurs. Indeed, launching a business on four wheels, without the need for a brick-and-mortar location, can be a much cheaper and more viable path. That said, “Just because you like to cook doesn’t mean you should operate a food truck,” cautions Jackie Valent, owner of The Fast Foodie, a food truck with an eclectic global menu that travels the streets of Milwaukee. The job entails a lot more than just peddling burgers or cupcakes — just as with any business, marketing, bookkeeping and managing employees are all part of the process. And simply being out on the streets day in and day out to keep a food truck rolling takes a lot of physical work. So before you put your restaurant on the road, you need to first check your community’s laws and ordinances, as they vary greatly from city to city and can affect your ability to operate. And then, once you have the regulatory green light and want to get your food truck moving? Here are five things you need to know. Develop a strong brand. Allison Torneros, head of Los Angeles-based branding studio Circle Dot, has worked with food trucks like The Great Food Truck Race competitor Nom Nom to develop a very strong presence in their communities. “One thing that will put you ahead of the game is a strong brand that customers can trust,” she says. “Think of what, aside from your menu, sets you apart from every other food truck and really sell it. For example, Nom Nom’s brand is cute and lighthearted, whereas a truck like Grill ‘Em All is heavy metal. When a food truck’s brand is likable, followers will go out of their way to find them on the streets. Without a strong brand, you’re simply selling food most people could buy at a regular brick-and-mortar restaurant. From the truck design to your logo and Twitter page, your company’s look and feel should be cohesive.” A strong brand, Torneros adds, can also help tremendously if you have future plans to franchise or sell your company. Remember the little things. Alex Rein, owner of New York-based Kelvin Natural Slush Co., believes that attention to detail is essential to running a successful mobile food business. “Think about the things you like about your favorite restaurant,” he says. “The decor, the menus, the signage, the uniforms, the place settings, the service. All these little things contribute to your enjoyment of the restaurant and make the food taste better — how things are presented and the setting in which they are presented affect how you respond to them. The best restaurants in the world with the most delicious food spend a great deal of time and money on how the restaurants look and how the food is presented. These same principles should apply to a food truck.” Rein places a high priority on the design of his truck inside and out, the cups he uses, his website, uniforms, menu board and how the product is presented. “We want a trip to our truck to be an experience that is memorable and exciting.” Become a social media maven. Social media is absolutely essential to running a successful food truck, since it is often the primary way patrons will track you down on a given day. Grant DiMille and his wife, Samira Mahboubian, owners of New York-based StreetSweets, use Twitter extensively to update fans about their locations and advertise their daily specials. As Valent also points out, “Social media has helped many food trucks build and sustain their businesses. You have the unique ability to connect with customers one-on-one in a special way.” The other wonderful thing about social media: It’s mostly free. Be unique. If you want to have a food truck that people will follow anywhere, you need to determine the qualities that make your food and the experience of visiting your truck stand out. With The Fast Foodie, Valent has trademarked a product called the “Globaco,” which is short for “global taco,” and she feels it has given her a distinctive marketing edge. “We take cuisines from around the world and put them in flour tortillas to make them portable,” she says. When you find an angle no one else has covered, you can add strong statements like “one and only” to your menu and promotions and attract more attention. Your truck is a restaurant, not a hobby. Even though a food truck is an unconventional business — and often a fun one — it’s still a business. Valent stresses the importance of managing your truck like a regular restaurant. “Pay attention to details like portion control, food costing, sourcing of food, etc. Though your margins are better than in a brick-and-mortar restaurant, you still need to keep tight controls on inventory and costs.” No matter how eager you are to hit the ground running and crack into this hot new business category, you have to treat your startup as you would any other business in the beginning stages, so you can build your customer base and stay on the streets for many years to come.
Truck accessories are essential part of almost all the truck bodies. Perfect truck accessories always enhance the function and also style of the Original Equipment Manufacturer truck. Aluminium Truck Bodies can never be so attractive without the help of these aftermarket manufacturers. This automotive aftermarket can be described as the indigenous part of automotive industry which is always concerned with the distribution, manufacturing, retailing, remanufacturing and also installation of various parts of the vehicle. The installation of different parts including tools, chemicals, accessories and equipments for both heavy and light vehicles are also done by the aftermarket manufacturer.

The aftermarket also covers collision, performance, appearance, replacement of various parts, etc. It supplies a large variety of service truck body’s parts of different qualities. You can get the products in different prices as well. Custom truck bodies can easily be prepared with the help of these aftermarket manufacturers.

Consumers can go to their preferred repairing centre to repair their vehicles. Professional centers are also there to repair Aluminium Truck Bodies and other service truck bodies. The repairing always makes the truck stronger.

In a typical truck body, hard parts or core parts are different from the accessories. Hard parts contain water pumps, distributors, radiators, etc. Some of well known accessories that are essential for a truck body include nerf bars, tonneau covers, grille guards, autocrats, chrome fender trim, billet grilles, hood deflectors etc. These accessories are used to make custom truck bodies. Bed extenders can also be included in the list.

Till the year 1990 the concept of beautification of the truck by extra accessories was not popular. Earlier some famous manufacturer such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, American Motors, Chryster, etc. regarded light trucks such as Dodge, Jeep, Ford, etc, as work vehicle. They did not adapt any accessories in these truck bodies. In these cases it can be seen that aftermarket manufacturers were always concerned about work heightening accessories such as spreaders, life gates and snowplows. With these accessories any truck will look extra ordinary. Sometimes these accessories also help in increasing the utility of the truck.

But in later days the aftermarket manufacturers extended their services and offered large forms of truck sizes and also types. Trucks are at present looking more gorgeous with the usage of these attractive accessories. Custom truck bodies are famous for their style and utility. The truck owners have become more attached to their truck nowadays. They need something more than just a mere tool box to decorate the Aluminium truck bodies. The demand of the owners to decorate their trucks with accessories is increasing day by day. The aftermarket manufacturers are always there to fulfill the need of these truck owners. There are a number of accessories to increase the functionalities and style of a truck. These accessories should always be well-fitted and co-ordinate with the design of the service truck bodies.

Various manufacturers are there who are famous for truck accessories. Specialty Equipment Market Association or SEMA is such a primary association for manufacturing custom truck bodies’ accessories.

There are certain things buyers need to know when they go out to purchase forklift truck parts. The knowledge helps them get a good deal and ensure they do not turn up at home with a sorry face. Fork lift truck parts are very technical in nature and ought to be understood intricately. Any lapse in understanding or a lax approach toward the parts may cost you dearly. It leads to bad purchases and eventually a failure in selecting well.

The parts should not be too sturdy or rough. New parts often have a problem in fitting in. The fork lift truck parts, as new as they are, ought to be well made with sharp corners and robust metal welding. At the same time, if they are rough, then they offer a bad deal. Any form of roughness on them ought to be vehemently rejected. It is simply not acceptable. In case they turn out to be a bad purchase, you will regret the money you blew on buying them. The fork lift truck maintenance is too costly and a lax purchase is just not done. That is why most prefer to pay forklift truck rentals.

The parts should match the make and model of your forklift truck. Fork lift truck parts though similar to the ones you already have fitted might turn out to be different when you actually try and fit them in your machine. The forklift truck rentals you pay to hire the colossal pieces only bring fruit when you have the right parts in place. Else, the purchase is useless. The forklift truck maintenance you pay is so huge that it drains you out of your resources. The best thing you can do is choose your parts carefully and match them with your truck.

The technical make up of the fork lift truck parts ought to be seen on paper. That way you get to judge well the dimensions of the parts and accordingly gauge on their usage. When you have the dimensions written on paper, you can always show them to a technical expert and verified whether they would fit well or simply prove to be a terrible mismatch. You pay well for the parts. You also pay hefty forklift truck rentals. The maintenance itself eats into your budget heavily. So the precision demanded is imperative.

One should know how old the parts are. Old parts get discarded and only new ones make the cut to the final list. Also, multiple companies make the same parts. Only the best service provider should be chosen while buying these. Old parts get worn out too quickly and should never be given a thought. Buying these rotten apples means wasting a lot of cash.

These are certain things to keep in mind whilst buying these parts. Their purchase has many strings attached. So you need to ensure you do not fumble with your basics. Any mismatch will do you in for good.

Article by Christopher M. Hunter

It is always a wise decision to install an automated lubrication system in your fleet of trucks in order to prolong their component life and actually help cut down your maintenance costs over time. Owners can breathe more easily knowing that their trucks’ components are being greased regularly rather than relying on methods such as point-by-point manual lubrication which is frequently overlooked by operators of the vehicles.

A manual greasing technique requires operators to stop their truck, shut it down and then a mechanic must climb onto/into the truck in order to access the bearings and apply the lubricant by hand. As a result, operators will incur the following results from using a conventional method: increased costs resulting from the fleet’s downtime; possibly inadvertently overlooking scheduled maintenance; and increased risk for accidents and injuries that can occur while the vehicle is being serviced.

Using an automated lubrication system would be much more effective. Following is information about this operation and the possible benefits to be gained from their usage.

System Function

Generally, using this procedure replaces and eliminates the inconvenience of applying lubricant to the truck bearings and bushings. The procedure has two key functions: First, it does not require the truck to be stopped and shut down, since it is done while the vehicle is in motion; secondly, with this procedure, the greasing maintenance interval will be eliminated. The operators now only have a maintenance interval for the re-filling of the pump reservoir, which fortunately only needs to be done on an occasional basis.

System Installation

This installation is done in a shop qualified to perform such work. All of the procedural components undergo a quality control check and are guaranteed to be repairable and replaceable. The system can be installed on either used or newly-acquired equipment. To ensure the proper operation of it, installation should only be performed by those who have extensive experience in this type of work to ensure that only the right components, up-to-date system design and proper routing of lube-lines will be used on the fleet of vehicles.

System Benefits

The automated lubrication system is one of the best types of preventive maintenance to use, since this type of procedure will significantly reduce a fleet’s downtime and repair costs. Most fleet owners and operators have taken advantage of using this system as a means of preventive maintenance. When comparing this procedure to the manual lubrication application process, the following list shows some of the benefits that this process can provide for a business:

Typically in the manual application, trucks get greased before or after their operation and the procedure/application would take a minimum of an hour. A fleet with an automated lubrication system is being greased even while it is in operation. Technically speaking, this could increase daily production by an hour, thus reducing overall labor hours.Using this method, a fleet is being provided with frequent applications that are consistent and use the precise amount of lubricant. This keeps the bearings coated and protected and can prolong the lifespan of the fleet. It also may keep the bearings free from contaminants. This would not be possible with a manual procedure. Bearings that are lubricated manually may receive large amounts of lubricant all at one time which then dissipates during usage of the vehicle, causing a high risk for contamination as well as allowing the bearings to wear out prematurely. There will be a lower consumption of lubricant because this procedure continuously applies only a small amount of it for each cycle, depending upon what is specified by the manufacturer. During the manual method, there is a possibility that the maintenance technician will skip over hard-to-reach points. There is a high risk of accidents when climbing and crawling to those hard-to-reach points. With an automated lubrication system, this scenario is eliminated which also eliminates that particular risk.

Getting the best from an automated lubrication system for a fleet of trucks will allow an owner to be on top of company business performance. This plan could be the answer to reducing maintenance costs while allowing an owner to enjoy the benefits of a well maintained fleet of vehicles – what a benefit that would be!

Article by Melanie Broemsen

A truck tractor can operate for hundreds of thousands of miles without trouble, especially when you take proper care of it. Protect your investment and your livelihood, and avoid some of the common, and often expensive, pitfalls associated with commercial truck maintenance by performing a thorough pre-trip inspection before you hit the road.

Why pre-trip inspections are important

The largest overhead expense you will experience as a commercial truck owner will be the cost of repairs, including parts and labor. However, vehicle downtime can be a much larger problem. Every day that your truck isn’t on the road, you lose money. The losses associated with downtime due to repairs can make or break a business. And as any experienced truck driver will tell you, preventative maintenance is the key to ensuring your commercial truck stays operational and profitable.

Following a thorough pre-trip inspection regimen on a regular basis can help prevent expensive breakdowns from occurring. Any necessary repairs can be made more efficiently and less expensively than when you are on the road. In addition, you are less likely to experience an accident. According to the Oregon Trucking Association, most commercial vehicle accidents that are attributable to vehicle component failure could have been avoided by detecting the deficiency prior to departure. Plus, your delivery schedules will not be impacted by unexpected delays.

Of course, pre-trip inspections are also mandatory, according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR, Part 396.13). Following this pre-trip inspection checklist not only can help extend the life of your investment, but also reduce the amount of time and money lost due to truck repairs and downtime – and keep you legal.

Commercial vehicle pre-trip inspection checklist

Check your tires – According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), tire-related costs are the single largest expense, accounting for as much as one-third of total maintenance costs, associated with commercial vehicles. Plan to spend about half an hour examining your tires, each and every time, before you hit the road.

First, check the air pressure in your tires. If you have a vehicle with dual tires, it is imperative that you check the inner tires, as well as the outer ones, even though they can be more difficult to reach. The outer tires can mask issues, such as under-inflation, which is the most common tire-related problem experienced by truck drivers. In fact, nearly 90 percent of tire breakdowns are the result of under-inflation, and a third of tire life is lost when under-inflated by 20 percent. Low tire pressure can cause heat build-up and reduce your fuel efficiency, too. Fortunately, even though tire under-inflation can create expensive problems, they can usually be avoided with proper attention.

In addition to checking the tire pressure, you should examine the tread. If you notice cracks or irregular wear, you may need to replace, rotate or adjust the inflation in your tire. If you aren’t sure, ask a professional commercial vehicle repair shop for an evaluation. Finally, replace your tires every three to five years, regardless of wear and mileage.

Check your fluids – First, look to see if there are signs of fluid leakage on the ground under your commercial vehicle. Then, take a look under the hood and check the coolant, antifreeze, oil and fuel. Look for leaks, and ensure you have the proper amounts of the fluids. Finally, turn on your truck and ensure the oil pressure, temperature and air pressure gauges are working properly.

Check your electrical system and wiring- All warning lights and buzzers should be working properly. In addition to checking your headlights (low and high beam), four-way flashers, clearance lights, turn signals, brake lights and other electrical components to be sure they are working properly, examine your truck for frayed or loose wiring. Common culprits include dangling fuel lines and worn battery cable that due to rubbing, can become exposed and cause a truck fire.

Check your brakes – First, test your parking brake. Also be sure your standard brakes have the proper amount of lining left. Review the manufacturer’s specifications for these guidelines, including any notations around these other brake-related items:

Leaks in the air pressure system, including the leakage rateLow pressure warning alarm Parking breaks turn on automaticallyRate of air pressure build-up

Invest in a good commercial truck insurance policy - Finally, be smart about your commercial truck insurance policy. Be sure you understand how much and what type of coverage you need to adequately protect your investment, and your livelihood.

Even with proper maintenance, commercial vehicles can break down, or accidents can occur. If downtime could pose a problem for you, choose a commercial auto insurance company that can respond to your needs quickly, like Progressive insurance, which offers roadside assistance and rental reimbursement, as well as a large network of expert technicians. Progressive is one of the fastest growing commercial auto insurance groups, and specializes in fulfilling the commercial vehicle insurance needs of small businesses like yours.
Finding a bucket truck for sale that you believe will greatly help your company is quite exciting. The ability to take on more projects translates into more revenue. Before you search out bucket truck sales just anywhere, consider browsing vehicles at a company that can do more for you than just provide a list of trucks. Utility Fleet is a step above most companies that boast boom trucks for sale, and there are several reasons why you should come to us first.

Once you locate a bucket truck for sale that you think best suits your needs, you need to decide how to pay for it. At Utility Fleet we can help facilitate flexible financing. Additionally, we provide rebates of up to ,000 on many of our trucks. Our industry leading warranty options attached to such bucket truck sales ensures that you get your money’s worth once you do decide to purchase from us.

We understand that aside from pricing, reliability is a major factor in deciding which company to buy from. Low prices mean little when you are not sure if you will receive what was promised from a bucket truck supplier. To bring you peace of mind, we invite you to check out our rating from the Better Business Bureau, which displays an “A” grade. Clearly, your satisfaction is important to us.

Before you purchase any truck, consider the scope of the projects you plan to take on. For example, a job that demands two workers in the air at one time will clearly not work when you use a boom truck with a single-man platform. Perhaps some jobs will require an articulating unit, while others do not. Either way, a little research can go a long way when it comes to bucket truck sales.

Finding a great bucket truck for sale is often the easiest part of the process. Once you decide to buy it, you need to figure out how to pay for it and get it to your job site.
If you are in the market for a bucket truck, a used vehicle could be the way to go. Before you buy, it is suggested that you treat the purchase of used bucket trucks very carefully. Knowing the history of the truck, as well as its age and any problems with it, is important if you plan to get your money’s worth. Utility Fleet carries a wide range of used bucket trucks, and our experienced staff can help you determine why a particular type of reconditioned vehicle may work well for you.

Before you buy any bucket truck, you should know where to go. Some dealers do offer used vehicles, but their selection is limited. Utility Fleet is known as the largest independent used boom truck dealer in the nation. Our selection is not only vast, but also good quality, as we get many of our trucks from reputable leasing companies nationwide.

Aside from having superior quality and selection, you should make sure the dealer you buy from inspects each vehicle before it is purchased. Just because you are buying your bucket truck used does not mean you should expect lower quality. Utility Fleet inspects each truck’s hydraulic system, body, chassis, drive train, and boom before the owner gets the vehicle. If any issues ever arise, our dedicated parts team and ASE Certified technicians can use our state-of-the-art, 18-bay service facility to evaluate and remedy the problem. No one services used bucket trucks as well as we do and it shows in the quality of our product.

If you plan to buy your next bucket truck used, do not feel the need to lower your standards just because you may be getting a better deal than a new vehicle. It needs to work just as well, and ensure just as much safety to your crew as a brand new bucket truck does. At Utility Fleet, we can provide you with a truck that will get what you need done while fitting perfectly into your budget.

Utility Fleet is proud to serve Cities and other Municipalities, Power Cooperatives, Investor Owned Utilities, Utility Contractors, Telecommunications Service Providers, Telecommunications Contractors, Sign and Lighting Companies, Tree Care Services, Commercial Construction Contractors, Road/Infrastructure Construction and Repair, Crane Distributors and Operators, Oilfield Service Companies, as well as a variety of independent users throughout North America.
Call us (outside the U.S.) for all your bucket truck, digger derrick, pressure digger, boom truck, and crane needs.

Article by Vikram kumar

For all those consumers looking for high quality used truck part for their trucks there are two possible options. The first option is to go for online purchase through online auto parts stores. The second option is to get the parts from local auto parts dealer. The main use of trucks is to transport goods and materials over long distances. Sometimes, these trucks carry men and material while passing through difficult terrains and rough weather conditions. Now day’s smaller versions of these trucks are visible in the racing circuit as well.

The main idea behind repairing or replacing the parts of the truck by using used truck part is to provide the right sort of maintenance to the truck and make it robust. These used truck part are essential to provide the right kind of smoothness to the truck to help propel it further. The used truck part are available for truck components related to the chassis, axels, suspension, wheels, engine, and other mechanical system within the truck. These all come under the category of used automotive parts as found in heavy vehicles.

These used automotive parts are economical and provides the vehicle or the truck with the right kind of quality that makes the driving process look simple. These used automotive parts are checked for quality after proper inspections to ensure that the purchase of these used automotive parts add value to your vehicle. The best thing about using these used automotive parts is the qualitative feature associated with them. It has been observed that used automotive parts lasts longer and gives less maintenance worries as compared to the new parts. This is because these parts are already used and tested that takes minor faults out of the picture.

The engine for small trucks such as SUVs and pickup ones is of the gasoline type though some of them have diesel engines as well. It is important to use the right kind of used truck part, which is genuine and has been inspected and approved in a qualitative sense. It is important not to purchase the used truck part or used automotive parts without doing a proper analysis and taking factors such as price, requirement, and warranty into consideration. It is important to consult your mechanic or have sufficient knowledge about the product before making a purchase decision. For the trucks, which have class, 3 to 5 GUWs the engine provided is of the diesel type.

In case of smaller trucks, the transmission system is similar to that have of lighter vehicles like cars, jeeps, and similar kind of vehicles. Both automatic and manual transmission forms part of the system with the support of synchronizers. However, for bigger trucks these transmission auto parts are of the manual type without synchronizers to avoid unnecessary weight on the truck. The technology used is called the ‘crash boxes’, which has a technique called floating. The main purpose of this technology is to change gears without using any sort of clutch. The only time that clutch is used is during start and stop. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay special attention towards the engines and transmission system of the truck and replace them with new parts or used truck part that is of the highest quality and has been certified for use. This will prevent any chances of breakdown in the middle of the journey or prevent accidents while on the road.

Reviewing bucket truck sales can be interesting because there are so many variations, many of which can help your company take on new projects with confidence. You might think that buying the first bucket truck for sale that appeals to you is a smart move since it means you can get started on new projects right away, but you need to put some thought into this purchase. Buying a truck that has features that you will never use, or perhaps is missing some crucial options, can cause you to waste money on a boom truck that will not help your business after all. To avoid this situation, start browsing bucket truck sales at reputable websites like BucketTrucks.com.

No matter how much you know about boom trucks, it is not a good idea to go through the sales process alone. To make the most of your time and money, you should allow sales staff with real experience using bucket trucks, such as those at BucketTrucks.com, to counsel you before you buy any vehicle. In fact, even if you are planning a bucket truck rental, you should first ensure that it has every feature you need.

You should also be aware that truck operators are expected to adhere to the rules after the initial purchase of the truck. No amount of safety features or perfect performances on operations tests will stop a bucket truck from breaking or harming a worker when grossly misused. Make sure your employees understand the limitations of the unit, boom weight capacities, and the necessary protective gear to be worn, to name a few important guidelines. If you have any questions about a particular bucket truck for sale or the regulations regarding the vehicle, we at Utility Fleet can likely help. That research should include finding out where to get the best sales experience. A truck supplier with a wide selection and knowledgeable staff ready to educate you about the best vehicle for your company is certainly a step in the right direction.

Whether you seek bucket truck rental or sales, BucketTrucks.com can help you make a decision that will benefit your company in the long run.
